The second season of Marvel's "Jessica Jones" series is slated to premiere next year, and Netflix has already unveiled several preview photos along with an initial synopsis in an exclusive report by Digital Spy.
"Having David back on set was wonderful", star Krysten Ritter told Entertainment Weekly of Tennant's return. Whilst this conversation could herald Jessica's descent into further alcoholism to distance herself from the traumatic events of the first season, it also hints that the series might be exploring her origin story in the coming season.
The show's first season received widespread critical acclaim, with praise aimed at the dark noir tone, cast, approach to sexuality, and coverage of dark topics such as rape and PTSD, so there's a tremendous amount of hype for its follow-up.
Marvel's favorite super-strong, smart-mouthed, whiskey-loving private investigator is coming back. "If Season 1 was in her head and in her mind, then Season 2 will be more in her heart", she said. The trailer teases what Jessica will be up to in her sophomore adventure, but did even more.
The show will start off by showing how the private investigator tried to re-establish her life after defeating her main adversary in season 1, Kilgrave (David Tennant). "I think we'll find something".
Since the first season of Jessica Jones ended up winning a Peabody Award, the anticipation is high to see what Marvel will deliver for her second season. "This season is more emotional". "Our partners are Marvel, and if we're doing something that's counter to [their continuity], they would pull us back or orient us on the right path, so clearly we're [okay]".
Starting in childhood, Jessica has faced some very hard traumas throughout her life, so there's a lot left to unpack when Jessica Jones returns to Netflix in 2018. "But we're very much in our own world".
