The visas were issued after Pakistan made a decision to allow Jadhav's mother to visit him, in addition to his wife.
On Pakistan Army chief, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's reported advice to the country's lawmakers to work for improving ties with India, the spokesperson said New Delhi too desired good ties with all its neighbours, including Pakistan. An Indian envoy would be allowed to accompany the visitors in Islamabad.
Earlier this month, Pakistan said that it would allow them to meet him on humanitarian grounds.
Islamabad, Dec 21: he mother and wife of Kubhushan Jadhav would be having last meeting with him Monday, saying the Indian prisoner is under no threat of immediate execution. Jadhav has been in the Pakistani jail since April over allegations of being an Indian spy. "Pakistan high commission in New Delhi issued visas to the mother and wife of Commander Jadhav to visit Islamabad to meet him, today", the foreign office spokesperson, Muhammad Faisal, said in a tweet. "We await further details from India in this regard".
He was sentenced to death by a military court and the Army Chief upheld his conviction.
Pakistan on Saturday had announced that it had received the visa applications and was processing them.
The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi on Wednesday issued visas to Jadhav's mother and his wife. India rejects Pakistan's claim that Jadhav was arrested on March 3, 2016, from Balochistan's Mashkhel area. The ICJ halted his execution on India's appeal pending the final verdict by it. Pakistan has repeatedly denied India consular access toJadhav on the ground that it was not applicable in cases related to spies.
