Fear the Wolves also promises a new game mode "intense and original", which will give an interesting twist to the genre. The game is being developed by Vostok Games, a studio comprised of ex-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. devs, who fittingly are very familiar with designing Chernobyl-inspired levels. The title was unveiled at Focus' annual press event, Le What's Next de Focus, taking place today and tomorrow.
What sets the game apart from other battle royale games like PUBG is that players will have additional threats to deal with, in the form of deadly anomalies and a dynamic weather system.
More details Fear the Wolves should be available soon.
This project is about a first-person shooter that will take us to a post-apocalyptic world. There's a tease of "the howls of mutated creatures [that] echo through the wasteland", so we could be looking at an instance of monsters coming out at night, and players fighting over (or making temporary alliances for) shelter.
There'll be a day/night cycle making you adapt your strategy, while you'll need to locate protective gear to explore the unsafe off-limits zones, but with mutated creatures howling in the distance, you might want to approach with caution.
Prior to launch, PC players can look forward to getting hands-on with the game through Early Access.
Fear the Wolves does not yet have a concrete release date, but Focus Home Interactive is promising that the game will release sometime in 2018.
