Of course, an aspect of Cobra Kai that the teaser has yet to touch upon is that said rivalry will transcend generations as the respective children of Daniel and Johnny will continue the martial arts enmity.
Cobra Kai takes place in present day, where the former karate championship opponents are now adults struggling to find balance in their lives.
Youtube Red has dropped the first teaser of its upcoming series "Cobra Kai". This inevitably leads to a confrontation with Daniel (Macchio) and the return of the old rivalry between them. Johnny is reviving his old dojo Cobra Kai, and Daniel isn't about to let him without a fight. Johnny has been down-and-out the past few years, while his rival has been living a near-perfect life as a auto dealer and family man. In the tourney's parking lot shortly thereafter, during the beginning of the sequel, we then saw Johnny's Cobra Kai Sensei (Martin Kove) get his nose honked by Danny's maintenance man/karate master, Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita), causing all the stupid Cobra Kai to sulk away in shame, presumably leaving the dojo to die. "No Mercy." In the final moments of the trailer Daniel and Johnny face off, much like they did 34 years ago.
Courtney Henggeler is Amanda, "Daniel's wife and business partner...the glue that keeps the LaRusso household and dealership running, and a calming force in Daniel's life". Meanwhile, Ed Asner plays Johnny's step-father Sid Weinberg. Season 1 of the half-hour comedy is executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and will consist of 10 episodes. At this time "Cobra Kai" still doesn't have an official premiere date; the teaser will only say it's "coming soon", and for those of us who love the 80s vibe it can't be soon enough.
This is not the first attempt to restart the Cobra Kai school.
