Like other Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphones, the Nokia 1 comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage. The basic color choices for the smartphone, however, are limited to Warm Red and Dark Blue.
HMD Global on Monday announced the launch of Nokia 1 Android Go smartphone in India. I would say its biggest competitor is from Nokia themselves; the Nokia 8 is now available for the same price of just £349.
Further, it's a 4.5-inch IPS display that makes up the front having resolutions of 480 x 854 pixels. The new smartphone is one of few phones released under the Go campaign.
In terms of performance, the Nokia 1 is powered by a 1.1GHz Quad-core MediaTek MT6737M SoC coupled with Mali T720 GPU. The Nokia 1 was announced at the MWC 2018 event held earlier this year in Barcelona, Spain. The device has now been launched in India for a price of ₹5499 ($85) and will be available starting tomorrow. The key feature of the Nokia 1 is its ability to use Xpress On two-tone polycarbonate exchangeable covers that allows its users personalise its looks.
As a part of the tuning Android for these bare-bones computing experiences Google has done a lot of work in optimising Android and its core apps. The covers will be available separately starting April, 2018 at an MRP of Rs 450.
Talking about the launch offer, Reliance Jio's existing and new customers will get a cashback of Rs 2,200.
60GB additional data for JIO users and 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify on opening the Kotak 811 savings account and activating it with an initial deposit of Rs 1,000/- in the introductory period.
The dual SIM Nokia 1 is powered by a 2,150mAh battery and comes with 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 and Global Positioning System as the standard connectivity options. It also packs a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera, but miracles shouldn't be expected from these. The phone comes with the proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and a G-sensor.
