Collins swiftly defeated No.8 seed and three-time champion Williams 6-2, 6-3 in just 87 minutes and she said it's unbelievable to beat her idol.
Danielle Collins produced the performance of a lifetime and pulled off an almighty shock at the Miami Open tennis tournament on Wednesday, sending Venus Williams crashing out 6-2, 6-3 to reach the semi-finals.
"The first time I saw Venus in the locker room I almost cried", Collins admitted. "She has been my favourite player so I am finding it hard to wrap my head around this".
Victoria Azarenka will play us open champion Sloane Stephens in the other women's singles semifinal.
"After losing the first set, I was just like, Okay, I didn't really do anything wrong. I ended up winning a lot of games in a row, and just tried to keep the momentum going". It was the first win for Carreno Busta in five matches against Anderson.
Azarenka's preliminary come-back immediately after the birth of her young child at December, 2016 was short-lived as she played with two championships prior to a custody battle with her son's father prevented her out of traveling along with her son or daughter.
Collins confirmed an unexpected composure for a player who has just started her WTA career after the college years and a 2017 season spent in the ITF events.
Collins will play French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko for a chance to make the final.
"Everything that is special or important to me I keep at my grandparents' house", she said, a big, toothy smile emerging from beneath her baseball cap. It was encouraging to see that Stephens was able to win without playing her best tennis.
Ostapenko survived a nail-biter she probably should have lost to Canadian qualifier Françoise Abanda in the second round at Wimbledon on her way to a very respectable quarterfinal finish there a month after her French Open run.
The argentine will now face John Isner in the semifinal to scale through Isner cruised past South Korea's Hyeon Chung 6-1, 6-4.
"Overall, what I've done is not bad at all", Azarenka said, summing up her four-week return.
