HMD Global has first unveiled the phone at MWC 2018 event in Barcelona back in February and it is the successor to last year's Nokia 8. This move comes as the company launched the "New" Nokia 6 in India alongside Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus. "Nokia is a brand that has been loved by people here and we want to continue building on that", HMD Global VP India Ajey Mehta told reporters here.
Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with 5.5 inch pOLED display with Quad HD resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
On the front, the device sports a 5.5 inch Full-HD display, however, accompanied with huge bezels (notch-haters will like it). This handset comes with a curved 5.5-inch QHD P-OLED display, while the phone is made out of metal and glass.
Starting from April 6, the Nokia 6 (2018) will be available in India with a price tag of Rs. 16,999 (~$261) for the 3 GB RAM variant. It will be available for pre-booking from April 20 on the Nokia Shop as well as Amazon.in along with select retail outlets offline. It will go on sale in India from 30 April 2018. It has dual diamond-polished stainless-steel frame. Overall the device feels bold and Nokia claims to have built the device from a single block of aluminum for extra durability.
As for camera optics, the dual camera setup comes with a 12 MP camera sensor with f/1.75 aperture and a 13 MP telephoto camera sensor with a f/2.6 aperture for 2x optical zoom.
Nokia 7 plus is backed by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 mobile platform. The front panel looks conventional but the back panel comes with a layer of glass with support for wireless charging. Nokia has used the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset we saw in the predecessor to power the new smartphone. Airtel is offering cashback of Rs. 2,000 on purchase of the phone under the Mera Pehla Smartphone initiative.
The Sirocco is waterproof, comes with a refreshed design that features a bigger 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display that looks absolutely handsome and a lot more premium than last year's Nokia 8. The front-facing camera is an 8-megapixel lens capable of shooting 1080p video. In terms of optics, there's a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash and Zeiss optics.
"Being part of the Android One family, these Nokia smartphones further emphasize our strong commitment to pure, secure and up-to-date Android", he added. In India, the device costs Rs. 17,999, however, the pricing of the device in the USA hasn't been revealed yet.
The device is also proof that Nokia is finally giving in to the 18:9 display rage. All new Nokia 6 consumers will also be eligible for a complimentary 12-month Accidental Damage Insurance by Servify on opening the Kotak 811 savings account and activating it.
This is the core strength of the Nokia 7 Plus and one that makes it a formidable beast at Rs 25,999. The Nokia 6 is available in Black/Copper and White/Copper colours and is priced at Rs. 16,999. The other features of the phone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, USB Type-C, 3.5mm audio jack and fingerprint scanner. The battery pack of 3260mAh can be boosted up to 50% in 30 minutes using Fast Charger.
