Insomniac Games and Marvel are bringing Spiderman to the PS4 and have shown a bunch of trailers so far. Outside of the LEGO games, Marvel has struggled to find its footing so it's crucial that this title succeeds. Pre-orders for the game are up digitally on the PlayStation Store and multiple big-box retailers, and the studio also revealed a deluxe and collector's edition to boot.
Marvel's Spider-Man release date - when is it out?
The standard edition of Spider-Man will be available both physically and digitally for USA $59.99 / CDN $79.99 MSRP.
There will be a few special editions for the game. The collector's edition will run users $149.99 while the digital deluxe edition will cost $79.99. This means that most of the major villains will be iconic, returning characters.
Here's what Game Informer had to say about their new issue and their month-long coverage of the new Spider-Man game. No word yet on how the physical pin will be fulfilled.
Marvel's Spider-Man deals with a new kind of Peter Parker, one we haven't previously seen before. This means you'll have access to three chapters of "The City Never Sleeps" DLC, the cosmetic additions, Spider-Drone, and the extra skill points.
Essentially while the fate of millions of New Yorkers rest upon his shoulders, Peter also has to deal with all the day-to-day stuff that we complain at length about. Stevenson notes that the Spider-Man statue is perched "on top of something" that will be revealed at a later time. Let us know in the comments. Until then, at least we know when we'll be wall-crawling and web-swinging across Manhattan; and it's sooner rather than later.
A common trend in the video game industry is for a company like Sony or Microsoft to purchase timed exclusivity for a game in order to promote the console it is tied to.
