Maharashtra BJP chief Ashish Shelar welcomed BJP chief Amit Shah to the foundation day event in Mumbai. "He is the first leader I've seen who would do this". Addressing a mega BJP rally here, Shah made stinging remarks and said the opposition parties are attempting to come together only to take on the BJP in next year's Lok Sabha polls. "We are in no way demolishing the reservation (policy)", Shah said.
Shah also alleged that almost 14 BJP activists and leaders have been brutally killed in Odisha in the last one and half years and their killers are moving scot-free as the BJD Government is shielding them. He said, "You question PM Narendra Modi on his governance but the people of this country have been questioning the rule of Congress since its inception".
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has made a decision to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Phule and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar on a grand scale, throughout the country.
"People have taken us to this level and now we have to live for them", he said. He also termed the BJP as a party that is a true believer in democratic ethos that is devoid of divisions and dynasty politics.
He said the BJP had grown manifold from a party of 2 MPs to 330 MPs, with full majority in Parliament.
Attacking Congress President Rahul Gandhi - calling him Rahul Baba - the BJP chief said he has been given an "injection" by (NCP President) Sharad Pawar, so that now he's going around asking "what Modi has done in the past four years?"
People can now see where those are who practised this untouchability and those who were its victims, he said in a reference to the party's rise and the fall of socialist parties and the Congress.
The party leaders also said that BJP was now the world's large party with above 14 crore members, including 13 lakh trained cadre. All sections of society support BJP. "In the fear of being swept away in swollen waters, snakes, mongooses, cats, dogs, cheetahs and lions climb onto the banyan tree to survive the flood", Shah said.
Mumbai: Congress' Maharashtra unit chief Ashok Chavan on Friday called the BJP's rally to mark its 38th Foundation Day as celebrations of a party that had failed on all fronts.
Shah also claimed that Modi was the most popular leader in the world and said the 2019 general election will not be fought over Modi's persona, but on his work as the prime minister. "It is our commitment that we will continue to devote ourselves towards India's transformation".
Sources said he also told the MPs that opposition members nearly surrounded him during his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address to Parliament, and such a disruption during a prime minister's speech was unprecedented.
