That is what eager fans of the Bethesda franchise learnt after a 24-hour Twitch stream.
In the trailer you might notice what appears to be the entrance to Vault 76 on the TV.
According to the fan encyclopedia at Fallout Wikia, Vault 76 was meant to open just 20 years after a 2077 nuclear conflict. But now it seems like Fallout 76 will be an original game in itself. When the protagonists of previous games emerged from their vaults, they were greeted by a threadbare, but nevertheless surviving human society. Unveiled in a stylish yet subtle new trailer, it remains unclear whether it will be a fully-fledged adventure or something smaller or more experimental.
Although none of these details have been confirmed by Bethesda, they paint a likely picture. This implies that Fallout 76 will take place several decades before the rest of the series. A few final shots hinting at the game's setting?
The speculation regarding a new Fallout game started when Bethesda tweeted a testing screen with the words "Please Stand By". Fallout 5 this is not. The developers of this game were not Bethesda Game Studios but instead was Obsidian Entertainment. That said, the listing was for a position at Bethesda Montreal. This doesn't mean Fallout 76 is the only thing they're now working on, either; it's just a bit of an unexpected twist. Hopefully, they spend part of their E3 conference showing us exactly what Fallout: 76 is with gameplay. Add a poster we quickly catch a glimpse with the date 1776-2076, celebrating 300 years of a sovereign America, we can safely assume the 76 in Fallout 76 will have more than one meaning.
