Walid al-Moallem said on Saturday that the US should withdraw from the al-Tanf base in southeastern Syria ahead of any agreement reached in the south of the country.
"Do not believe any statements on an agreement about the south of Syria unless the United States forces withdraw from al-Tanf area", he said.
An element of the Israeli strategy has also been to back up the diplomacy with force in Syria. "Israel will continue to maintain its operational freedom to act against Iranian entrenchment in all of Syria", they said.
The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitor, reported on Thursday that Iranian troops and members of Lebanon's Iran-backed Hezbollah group are getting ready to withdraw from southern Syria.
"The U.S. troops should withdraw from Syria and Syrian sovereignty over the Tanf area is undoubted", he said.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu told ministers that he had spoken with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo primarily to urge the US government to demand that an evolving agreement on troop deployment in Syria between the US, Russia and Jordan make clear that Iranian forces must leave the whole of the country.
"Contrary to the unlawful presence of the U.S. and some regional countries in Syria, Iran's presence is not imposed and is not the result of an illegal military aggression", he told the Shargh newspaper, according to state-run Press TV.
"Of course", he added, "I will reiterate an unchanging truth: Israel will not allow Iran to achieve nuclear weapons". It puts out rumors that the Iranian-backed militias called the National Defense Forces will be disbanded.
Over the years, Israel has watched as different groups in southern Syria came to control different parts of the area near the Golan border. The southern de-escalation zone borders Jordan and is located not far from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
There has been no confirmation of a deal between Russia, Israel and Iran however.
In the meantime, the Russian Hmeimim air-base announced Thursday that forces of the Fourth Syrian Army division are heading towards southern Syria in order to fight the Jubhat al-Nusra militias.
Over the last several months, Israel was credited with bombing numerous Iranian military sites inside Syria, increasing those strikes after Iran sent an armed drone into Israeli territory.
In the course of their recent advances in terrorist-held areas, Syrian government forces have discovered considerable amounts of Israeli-made munitions, including chemical warfare, digital equipment and drugs.
But Assad said Iran's presence in Syria has been limited to officers assisting the army.
The southwest, near the borders with Jordan and Israel, remains one of the big chunks of Syria still outside the control of the state, which has recovered swathes of the country with the help of Russian jets and Iran-backed militias.
