According to the reports, Singapore is only the third country North Korean leader Kim has visited since he became the nation's leader in 2011.
"I hope it won't be necessary to walk, because I really believe that Kim Jong-un wants to do something that is going to be great for his people, and also great for his family, and great for himself", Mr. Trump said.
One of the topics that might come up for discussion tomorrow is the establishment of official diplomatic ties between the US and North Korea, US media website Axios reported on Saturday, citing two sources familiar with preparations for the Singapore summit.
The United States and North Korea have been in a technical state of war for decades after the eruption of the 1950-1953 Korean War, which pitted U.S. -led U.N. troops backing Seoul against Pyongyang's forces that were aided by China.
The bill for hosting the historic Trump-Kim summit will come up to about $20 million, said Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, adding that this is Singapore's contribution to an global endeavour that is "in our profound interest".
Kim Jong Un and Trump have shared a rocky relationship leading up to the summit.
In a New Year's address, Kim said his country had completed development of its nuclear program and would focus on economic development, suggesting a meeting with South Korea.
First to arrive in Singapore was an IL-76 transport plane carrying food and other essentials for Kim as well as his bullet-proof limousine and a portable toilet that will deny determined sewer divers insights into to the supreme leader's stools.
Aboard Air Force One en route to Singapore, Trump tweeted, "I look forward to meeting [Kim] and have a feeling that this one-time opportunity will not be wasted!"
It will be the first time that a sitting USA president and a North Korean leader have met.
Critics worry Kim has already won by scoring such a high-profile meeting..
Kim smiled broadly Sunday evening as he met with Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Traveling with Kim were top officials including Foreign Minister Ri Yong Ho and Kim Yong Chol, a close aide of Kim who has been instrumental in the diplomacy that culminated in tomorrow's summit.
But, barring a shock last minute development, the historic meeting between the U.S. and North Korean leaders will go ahead. As a part of that process, he also announced a suspension of nuclear and missile tests and the dismantlement of a key atomic testing facility that was carried out last month.
Mr Trump has not approached the North Korea crisis with kid gloves and seems unlikely to adjust his tactics now.
