He is now on break after playing for his country at the 2018 World Cup in Russian Federation, and Courtois will return to training on August 7 which is two days to the end of the January transfer window.
The club are fully aware of his movements and say they gave him prior permission to return late following his World Cup campaign with Brazil this summer, dismissing reports he had gone AWOL.
Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle with Real Madrid for Courtois' transfer, but the club have made it clear that they won't sanction the move unless they bring in a replacement.
Some supporters have criticised the 26-year-old as they feel that his desire to move to the Bernabeu is being financially driven, but Henrotay has dismissed those claims out of hand.
"It is a big decision for Thibaut because he wants to be nearer to his family".
Courtois is due back at Chelsea for preseason training on Monday, and speaking at a news conference ahead of the Community Shield against Manchester City on Sunday, new head coach Maurizio Sarri said he would like the Belgian to stay.
'But this is a human decision based on someone wanting to be close to his children - and that is a reasonable thing too'.
"I am not moving, I am happy at Chelsea and living in London.I am very happy living in London", declared the forward.
"It depends on the club so we have to wait but I am confident", Sarri said. At the moment Chelsea prefer to keep their cards close to their chest but with the transfer window closing in England next week, time is running out for them to find an adequate replacement.
