Trump has shown, over and over again that he loves to attack his critics via Twitter, but its becoming more and more glaring that his preferred method of attacking African Americans is by insulting their intelligence.
Lemon asked James what he would say to President Trump if he was sitting across from him.
The tweet came in response to an interview James conducted with CNN host Don Lemon, a frequent punching bag for the president. "He made Lebron look smart, which isn't easy to do", Trump tweeted. He then followed it up with 'I like Mike!', a clear reference to preferring Michael Jordan over James.
James has been critical of the president and his administration in the past, and his dislike of CNN has been well established.
"I like Mike!" Trump tweeted.
In his interview with Don Lemon, James said that sport had offered him the opportunity to meet people of different backgrounds and race, adding: "Sports has never been something that divides people". All students who graduate from high school will also get free college tuition.
Trump, who bumbles through speeches and brags how he is unprepared, is clearly continuing his campaign of hatred and prejudice.
"Who's the real dummy?"
Trump puts children in cages.
"If we look at some of the greatest leaders of our time, you look at, you know, Muhammad Ali, you look at Dr. Martin Luther King, and all the adversity they went through", he told Lemon. But even some Trump allies chided the remark.
Asked by Lemon about the USA president's attacks on black athletes such as football player Colin Kaepernick, James said the president was "using sports to kinda divide us". The school is aimed at providing comprehensive services for at-risk youth, and James is providing $8 million in funding for it through his LeBron James Family Foundation.
