Author Stephen King fired a new salvo in his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump after yet another White House attack on Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
"Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time", he complained, noting that Democrats must "love" Sessions as the attorney general.
Collins has suspended his reelection campaign, while Hunter is running for reelection, alleging political bias by the Justice Department.
The White House summoned the press pool about 10:30 a.m. for a road trip, and the president emerged from the White House 10 minutes later rocking a red polo shirt, dark trousers and a white MAGA hat.
The president apparently was referring to the current investigations into GOP Reps. The president blasted Sessions for failing to rein in what he called an "illegal investigation" by Special Counsel Robert Mueller into whether Trump and his campaign aides colluded with Russians in the 2016 election. The comment on Monday was the latest indication that Trump, who ran on a pledge to "drain the swamp", believes his political allies should be immune from prosecution, regardless of the evidence stacked against them.
The Justice Department also began investigating Hunter a year ago, with the House Ethics Committee announcing in March 2017 that it was holding off on taking action against Hunter because the Justice Department had launched a criminal investigation into his use of campaign funds.
Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) released a statement saying, "The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice - one for the majority party and one for the minority party".
Trump recently told Bloomberg News that he would keep Sessions as attorney general until after the midterm elections. Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact.
Still, Mr Sessions has made clear to associates that he has no intention of leaving his job voluntarily despite Mr Trump's constant criticism. But some have indicated that Trump may make a change after the elections.
