However, if you were to skip the announcement altogether, you would miss one of the more interesting launches in recent years.
Apple's Gather Round event is just a few days from now and we're still receiving reports of what the cheaper LCD model is going to be called. All these specs for the 6.1-incher make sense because Apple is planning to position this as a more "entry-level" device, the price of which would be at par with the iPhone X's lesser co-star previous year, the iPhone 8, which is now priced starting at Dh2,991.50, which is about $815.
The consensus expectation is that the new LCD iPhone will be priced between US$699 and US$749, Goldman Sachs analyst Rod Hall wrote Friday in a note to investors. Last year was the first time it had ever unveiled three new handsets in one show, and sadly for our exhausted fingers there looks to be the same this year.
In June, Apple previewed its next-generation software, Mac OS Mojave and iOS 12, which features Memoji, group FaceTime and a tool that tracks how obsessed you are with your iPhone.
"It'll have a roughly 6.1-inch screen with LCD instead of newer OLED technology".
Accordingly, the 6.1-inch version among the new Apple smartphones will not be called iPhone XS Light, but iPhone XC. The iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone Xr (or Xc?) have been previewed extensively, and apart from the possibility of some neat new camera features and a dual SIM, we have a good idea about what's going to show up. There is also a photo that shows dual SIM slots. This can go up if the large-screen assumption ends up being true and seeing as how there are natural benefits that come to using increased screen size, Apple might have a terrific plan set in motion. The reason for that lies mostly in the physics of the high-band spectrum being used for 5G, which requires several big antennas placed around the device to achieve consistent signal.
"We still believe the smartphone market has some healthy growth in the years to come, although finding and competing in those markets and segments is increasingly more challenging", said IDC analyst Ryan Reith. To signify the even larger screen, Apple is likely to give the phone a new name: "iPhone Xs Max", according to people familiar with Apple's internal deliberations.
This worked nicely on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, so could be an easier to way to unlock a tablet than the fingerprint sensor. This would be a bit of a game-changer, as before now, Apple's always released mobile products with Lightning ports or their original 30-pin monster ports. We have already got a glimpse of the design of the new iPhones and Apple Watch. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
Although less likely, Apple may also launch new versions of its iPad Pro range.
