Khabib Nurmagomedov is escorted out of the arena after defeating Conor McGregor in their UFC lightweight championship bout by way of submission during the UFC 229 event inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, on October 6, 2018.
The undefeated MMA fighter Khabib has himself just defeated the Irishman McGregor in what was billed as the biggest fight in the history of UFC.
The sport of mixed martial arts is in a really freaky place right now and that's something we'll expand on at a later date, but when push comes to shove, we really think this would be a bad idea.
There was wild drama in the aftermath, when Khabib climbed out of the Octagon to fight with a member of McGregor's entourage who had been taunting him.
In addressing Mayweather, Nurmagomedov said: "Let's go Floyd, we have to fight now, 51-0 vs 27-0, two guys who have never lost". Let's go, why not?
"Of course I am the king because he could not drop McGregor and I dropped him easily", added Nurmagomedov, who retained his UFC lightweight title against McGregor.
The statement came shortly after Mayweather told CBS, Showtime and MGM Grand to 'get the checkbook out'.
"Let's make Las Vegas great again!". White previously said that Nurmagomedov could be stripped of the 155-pound belt, though that appears to be a most unlikely scenario.
In addition, Mayweather has teased at the possibility of a tune-up fight in December that would take place in Tokyo. Traditionally, Nevada has ruled harshly on brawls that occur outside of the fighting space.
