The OnePlus 6T will be unveiling in India today at 8:30 PM IST at an event in New Delhi. United Kingdom buyers will be able to get up to £205 off a 6T purchase by trading in an old handset (select models only) or any OnePlus smartphone.
Internally, the OnePlus 6T packs the same components as the OnePlus 6 with some improvements thrown here and there.
The display also serves as a home for an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is increasingly becoming popular with flagship Android smartphones. However, there is a new mode for improving low-light performance when taking photos at night, and an also-new "Studio Lighting" feature works to analyse and attenuate lighting when taking portraits.
The phone features the largest display on a OnePlus device yet at a 6.41-inch span with its tallest aspect ratio ever at 19.5:9.
Featuring a 6.41-inch AMOLED display, OnePlus 6T comes with a waterdrop notch.
Another change is the speaker has moved to the top of the device. And two major tick-list items are absent too, IP67 waterproofing and Qi wireless charging.
The successor to the OnePlus 6 will arrive in Canada on November 1st, 2018.
Like most other Android flagships that have been released this year, the OnePlus 6T makes use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor that can be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The company announced Open Beta 6, which includes several features originally found in the OnePlus 6T. Otherwise the main imaging hardware is unchanged - it's dual sensor (20MP+16MP), both f/1.7 aperture. Also, OnePlus promises to improve on HDR techniques with upcoming software updates. However, the rear camera sensor remains the same as that of its predecessor. The base variant of the OnePlus 6T will retail for Rs. 37,999. OnePlus, by contrast, only sells premium phones that cost $400 or more and nearly exclusively online except in India.
The latest OnePlus 6T flagship was only unveiled yesterday but the durability test by JerryRigEverything is already out. Across the globe, pop-ups will be held in 32 cities including New York, London, Paris, Milan and Beijing. OnePlus says it's measured the unlock speed of the fingerprint scanner to 350 milliseconds. To avail this offer, buyers need to purchase the device between November 1 and November 3. The plan will entitle them to 3GB 4G data per day with unlimited voice calls, SMS and access to Jio's premium applications.
While some OnePlus models have been on sale in the United States through e-commerce websites, carrier relationships like the one with T-Mobile are critical because most USA consumers still purchase phones through their carriers.
