When news broke that New Orleans was working out Bryant and two other receivers, it felt like the ideal match from the start. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Bryant has gone a career-long 23 regular-season games without a 100-yard performance.
Not long after his release from Dallas, Bryant turned down a three-year contract offer from the Baltimore Ravens, according to several media outlets.
"The nice thing is we don't play them until December, so we will get an opportunity to see what they are doing with him", Panthers coach Ron Rivera said shortly after hearing about Bryant's agreement with the Saints.
Sherman took to his personal Twitter account and reacted to the news that Bryant had signed with the Saints.
That Bryant's production fell off in 2017 was more of an indictment of the Cowboys coaching staff than it was an indictment of his ability to still produce in this league.
Rookie Tre'Quan Smith has 12 receptions for 214 yards and three touchdowns for the Saints, who saw fellow wideout Ted Ginn Jr. placed on injured reserve last month and Cameron Meredith struggle this season. Bryant's new teammate, Michael Thomas, was sixth, T-37th and third, respectively last season.
"He just makes our offense that much more dynamic and obviously the question is who are you going to cover on our team now", fullback Zach Line told NFL.com. Last season, he notched 69 catches for 838 yards and six touchdowns in his eighth National Football League year, all with the Cowboys.
Of course, Bryant won't be a focal point of the Saints offense the rest of the season.
Bryant, who turned 30 on November 4, brings a wealth of experience and big-play ability to New Orleans. "He goes up and attacks the ball better than I've seen anyone". "He's definitely a special player and I'm glad he got picked up and I'm glad something worked out for him".
"I'm really happy for him and that opportunity", Garrett said, via USA Today. But his knee was obviously a big enough concern this past offseason for the Chicago Bears to let him get away as a restricted free agent. "Anytime you can add that type of talent to your team is very important".
Dez Bryant has a new home. "I know he can still contribute to a team and I'm glad it's going to be us".
